Colchester City Council-Private Sector Housing Team
We can help if you, or someone that you support, lives in privately or socially rented housing (but not Council housing) and the landlord is not maintaining the property, meaning that it is affecting health and wellbeing. Raise issues with your landlord or agent first, but if they fail to deal with them, contact us and we will get involved. We can help with issues like dampness and mould, inadequate heating, unsafe electrics, unsafe stairs/steps/paving, disrepair and many other housing safety issues.
We can’t help with private/civil disputes such as rent arrears and tenancy deposits,we can’t get you re-housed and we can’t deal with minor issues like decorative repairs
