Colchester City Council: Housing Benefit and Council Tax Support Team

The Benefits Processing Team processes Housing Benefit and Council Tax Support Tax for residents of Colchester. Housing Benefit is available to those who are on a low income and need support towards paying their rent. You can make a claim for Housing Benefit if you are pension age (and so is your partner, if applicable) or you live in supported exempt or temporary accommodation. If you do not meet this criteria you would need to claim for Universal Credit Housing Costs.

Local Council Tax Support is avaliable to those who are liable to pay Council Tax at your address and you are living at the property as your main home. There are separate schemes for residents who are working age and those who are pension age. You can find more information on our website at https://www.colchester.gov.uk/housing-benefit-local-council-tax-support/
