Galop

Galop is the UK's LGBT+ anti-abuse charity, providing free and confidential support to LGBT+ people who have experienced domestic abuse, sexual violence, hate crime, honour-based abuse, forced marriage, or so-called conversion therapy. Support is also available for friends, family members, and professionals concerned about someone they know. Galop runs four national helplines and provides longer-term advocacy for those who need ongoing support. The service is run by LGBT+ people, for LGBT+ people, and is available to anyone across Essex.

Who can use this service?

Anyone who identifies as LGBT+ and has experienced abuse or violence, including domestic abuse, sexual violence, hate crime, or conversion therapy. Friends, family members, and professionals supporting an LGBT+ person are also welcome to get in touch.All support is free and confidential.

How are services delivered?

Galop delivers support remotely via phone and online. The helpline is open Monday to Friday: 0800 999 5428. Live chat is available on Mondays and Thursdays.

Monday – 9:15am to 8pm
Tuesday – 9:15am to 8pm
Wednesday – 9:15am to 4:30pm
Thursday – 9:15am to 4:30pm
Friday – 9:15am to 4:30pm
Closed on weekends

The helpline will close for 1 hour each day at 1pm and open again at 2pm.
